Awards for Top Teacher, Studio, and StudentsTOP STUDENTS Top students in each division, both man and lady, will be awarded a trophy. TOP STUDIO The top 3 studios of the California Open will be recognized on Sunday evening. In order to qualify, a studio must submit a minimum of 100 entries and consist of at least 2 instructors and 5 students to qualify. TOP TEACHER In order to qualify for Top Teacher, teachers must have a minimum of 50 entries (or 35 entries with 3 students on any package). Female teachers must have a minimum of 40 entries (or 30 entries with 2 students on a competition package). To qualify for 1st and 2nd places, a teacher must have a minimum of 175 Pro/Am entries. All entries must be postmarked by [date3]. Entries received after the deadline or at the competition will not count towards top teacher awards. Points for Top Teacher will be awarded on the following basis: | ADULT SINGLE, 2- or 3-DANCE ENTRIES | 4- or 5-DANCE ENTRIES | | | | For each first place... | 8 points | 16 points | For each second place... | 7 points | 14 points | For each third place... | 6 points | 12 points | For each fourth place... | 5 points | 10 points | For each fifth place... | 4 points | 8 points | For each sixth place... | 3 points | 6 points | For each seventh place... | 2 points | 4 points | For each eighth place... | 1 point | 2 points | For each recall from a previous round... | 1 point | 2 points |
If a placement is in an uncontested division, the points will be halved. PRE-TEENS, JUNIORS, AND YOUNG ADULTS
- If couples or pro-am pay full fees, they receive points as described in adult entries.
- If couples or pro-am pay reduced fees, they receive 1/2 points.
- If couples or pro-am pay no fees, they receive no points.
